Four Verses to Start Your Day with God // Faithfully Honest
They say, “The best way to take on the day is with Jesus and coffee!”
I know there are so many phrase like the one above that are overstated, but it’s so true. However, I could probably use a heavier dose of Jesus than the large amount of coffee I take in on the daily.
Sometimes, I find that on the days I don’t meditate on God’s word, I feel discombobulated. I truly believe that if you don’t take care of your soul through spending time with God, something shifts within us.
When I haven’t intentionally spent time with God, my energy is low.
My emotions are high.
My perspective on the outside world becomes tainted.
I forget to be grateful and everything seems irritating.
I focus on the wrong things and it seems as if peace is nowhere to be found.
On the days that I do make an effort to start my days with the Lord, my sunny disposition radiates.
I feel more confident in myself and my abilities.
The emotions of gratitude are easily obtainable.
My emotions are calm and my energy is high.
My spirit is filled and I feel God’s peace within me despite anything that comes my way.
To maintain a heart of peace and gratitude, I realize the great effects of starting my day with the Lord. I don’t always get it right, but I sure do try to find a quiet moment and just bask in his presence. For me, that’s first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. I like referring to encouraging scriptures to help remind me of God’s faithfulness and love. It helps prepare my mind, heart and spirit, so I can take on the day with him by my side.
Not sure what scriptures to read? I’ve gotchu! Here are 4 verses to start your day with God:
1.”Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.” Psalm 143:8
2. “But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For you have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.” Psalm 59:16
3. “For Nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37
4. “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
